Ever since the news that Charlie Kaufman was writing and directing a film to star Phillip Seymour Hoffman emerged a couple of years ago, the tension was been slowly building to the 15th of May, when Synecdoche finally lands on our shores. Cannes loved it, America was confused by it and needed an alternative title, now we get the privilege of enjoying the kind of film it's hard to imagine even getting made. Impossible to market without just relying on people's better judgement, and packing a stellar cast, it's a victory for the film industry as much as anything else. Enjoy the trailer here, or its possible visit Sony's flash-based minisite here, if that prospect doesn't terrify.
